This Drill is to simulate front court fielding. The coach or a player kneels down where the Triangle1 icon is, and flicks the balls out to the fielders randomly. This should be done by trying to simulate the types of balls they will need to field in a game eg some bounce shots, some low into the net, some dropped at the batters feet so they have to be on their toes to move in. |

The fielders need to be prepared to field a ball at any time, on their toes and in their normal position. The ball should either be tapped or thrown at the stumps. There is a keeper, but in a game you should be trying to hit the stumps direct, so here you practice hitting the stumps 3 quarters of the way up so if you miss then the keeper can complete the play. This should be done as quickly as possible to incorporate some fitness and reflexes. Rotate around to different positions, including the thrower and the keeper (this is a tiring position, so need to change also). |
