The Best of the Best

The people on this page have been selected to represent Australia at Indoor Cricket in either a Playing, Coaching or Managing capacity, or more than one. These people have strived to be the best they can, and have given their all for their State, and been rewarded justly. Having players from a team selected in an Australian side, is also a reflection on the rest of the players and officials in the team, as they couldn't have made it without their help.

Please take some time to read through the names, and if you know of someone who has represented Australia in Indoor Cricket but is not in this list, please provide their information to me via Email and I'll include them on the page.

Guido Spina

The 1996 Over 30s were the first Over 30s team to compete for SA, and they finished Runners Up. All reports say that Ian Jamieson had a brilliant carnival on the back stumps, and was unlucky not to get a guernsey also. The above list contains a Sheffield Shield Cricketer, the 1999 Men's Open Coach, the 1999 Over 35s Captain, and the 1999 Over 30s Co-Captain. Not a bad bunch really.

1997

Women's Open

Nicole Simons - Click Here for Photo

Nicole went on a tour of South Africa with the Women's Team, and they were undefeated for the entire tour, along with the Men's Team.

Men's Over 30s

Peter Gladigau
Simon Morris

"Glads" was initially picked in the side, but as the team was touring to New Zealand he pulled out, and this meant Simon "Spook" Morris got the call up (he had a great carnival also). "Spook" toured New Zealand where a series of warm up games were played, and also 3 Test Matches.

Women's Over 30s

Carolyn Dittmar
Andrea McCauley

Andrea McCauley also won Player of the Series in this carnival (joint winner).

Lord's Taverners

Craig Storr

Craig Storr also won Player of the Series, mainly for his awesome batting effort of scoring 400 runs for the carnival off his own bat. The highest score he had in one partnership was 84 off his own bat (his partner made 32, total skin 116).

1999

Men's Open

Michael George
Shane Martin

Click Here to see how Geo went on his tour of England.

Unfortunately Shane Martin was unable to tour due to work commitments.

Men's Open

Michael George
Paul Smith

"Flea" also won Player of the Series.

Michael and Paul and Naomi were members of the World Champion Team that defended the World Cup in South Africa in October 2000. Congratulations to both.

Women's Open

Naomi Maidment

Naomi is the youngest player to represent Australia at the 2000 World Cup, and she may well be the youngest ever. Naomi was a member of the World Champion Team that defended the World Cup in South Africa in October 2000. Congratulations to Naomi.

2001

Men's Over 35's

Peter Gladigau
Colin Robinson

"Horse" and Col will be competing at a Tri-Series competition in Perth against England and New Zealand. It may turn into a 4 way competition if South Africa come also, so that should be a great competition. Bruce Reid from WA has also been named in the squad, so this side has a pretty handy bowling line up !!

Under 18 Men

Dino Vrynios

Dino stepped up to the challenge of being given the captaincy after only 1 year of Nationals, and not only had a great carnival himself, but led his team to Prelim Final which is the best result for SA Juniors in the last 10 years.

Development Squads

The AICF chose 2 Development Squads to recognise young players in both the Under 18 division, and the Womens Open Division. Congratulations to the following players for being picked in these squads, and Training Camps will be held to assist in developing their skills.

Under 18 Men

Dino Vrynios
Daniel McKay

Under 21 Women

Jess Oldfield
Georgina Zervos
Shannon Clark

2002

Men's Over 35's

Peter Gladigau - Captain
Colin Robinson

"Horse" and Col will be competing at the Masters World Cup in 2003, congrats to both on their selection. Glads was named Captain of the side after Bruce Reid had to pull out, which is a great honour for the big fella and we are all proud.

Women's Over 30's

Lee-Anne Hunter
Lisa Wilson

Lisa led her team to a credible 3rd place in the tournament, and deserved her selection in the first ever touring Over 30s team to go to New Zealand in 2003.

Lee-Anne Hunter was called up to the team after the Nationals due to a withdrawal. Lee-Anne also made the side in 2000, but this is the first time she has toured with the Masters.

Under 18 Men

Dino Vrynios
Daniel McKay

For the second year running Dino has made the side, and Daniel breaks into the squad for the first time. Both had great tournaments and showed a great deal of leadership and maturity in getting their side into the Grand Final. Now off to the Under 19s World Cup in South Africa !

Open Women

Belinda Noack

"Billy" had a great tournament with both Bat and Ball. Her bowling is the quickest it has been for a long time, and many sides including Queensland struggled to get her away. She gave everything she had for the team, and stepped up as a senior member of a young side. This is Billy's first Aussie selection, and she's a very popular choice.

Lord's Taverners

Michael Sloggett

The LTS's made the Grand Final for the first time, so it was great to get the additional bonus of an Australian selection. Michael was overjoyed on the night, and made sure he hugged every single SA State player there, and the hugs were gladly returned.

2003

Men's Over 30's

Brad White
Glen Tisdale

In his first ever carnival, Glen was the talk of the tournament due to his express bowling. He sounded the "death rattle" for quite a few players, and along with his solid batting had his spot sewn up by Round 4. Brad White proved what a quality player he is by taking his Open game into the Masters and averaging over 20 with the bat.

Women's Over 30's

Allyson Keneally
Lisa Wilson

Lisa was selected for the 2nd year running for a good all round performance, and Allyson Keneally got the nod for her brilliant batting and her accuracy with the ball.

Women's Open

Belinda Noack
Jess Oldfield

The Women's Extreme Team dominated all comers in November 2003 scoring over 200 in most games. Belinda "Billy" Noack wasn't originally selected in the side, but was brought in later and showed the mistake the selectors madeo originally by coming Runner Up in Player of the Series versus the Kiwis. Visit www.aicf.com.au for details on the results.

Under 19s

Neshia Iles

Selected due to her strong performances with the Womens Open side, and young talent who will benefit from working with Australian Coach's and competitions against other countries.

Lord's Taverners

Michael Sloggett

Back to Back selections for Michael. In early 2004 a squad of 16 players will participate in Training Camp in Brisbane. A Wonderful opportunity for Lord's Taverners players, and a magnificent effort by Michael to once again gain selection.

2004

Women's Open

Belinda Noack
Olivia Magno

Billy gets in again which is great, and Olivia Magno made a brief visit to SA and swanned into the Aussie side ! The girls will represent Australia at the World Cup in Sri Lanka.

Lord's Taverners

Lindsay Freeman

Lindsay has been playing for a number of years and greatly deserves this recognition for his service to the sport, and good performances during the tournament.

Under 19 Women

Neshia Iles

Back to Back for Neisha after making last years side. Hopefully she continues on and makes her way into the Womens side next year along with Billy.

Under 18 Men

Mark Hanson

One of they future stars of SA Indoor Cricket, Mark Hanson was a standout for SA and one of the main reasons the team made the Grand Final again. Mark is eligible for Under 18s again in 2005, but if he feels up to it he may be given the opportunity to join the Open squad.

Over 30 Men

Paul Smith

In his return to State Cricket, "Flea" excelled at the Masters level as most expected with his pure natural ability. This follows up his Australian selection for the Men's Open in 2000 when he participated in the World Championship winning side.

Ashley Tharaldsen

Playing in his first Over 30s carnival, after not playing State cricket since 2000 in the Men's Open, Ash showed that consistency and concentration pays off.

Over 35 Men

Lee Cox

Coxy once again receives an Australian shirt, possibly making him the second most "capped" Aussie player SA has ever produced behind Peter Gladigau. Lee will tour with the Over 35s side to the Masters World Cup, so his selection is even more impressive given the that the side is a touring side and his team didn't make finals.

Gary Bartlett

Gary was originally named as Reserve and then got the call up after a stellar tournament where his hard work on his game over the last few years paid dividends in a big way. South Africa will never be the same again!

2005

Women's Open

Belinda Noack
Neisha Iles

Billy gets in again which is great, and Neisha follows up her Junior selections by making the Senior side.

Under 18 Men

Rocco Illuminato
Matt Rogers
Michael Ledgard
Mark Hanson

As National Champions the team rightly had 4 Australian Reps. Unfortunately the boys don't get to tour, but they will be involved in High Performance Camps and get the recognition. Craig Dollman was also named as a Talent ID player.

Over 30 Men

Paul Smith
Sean Watt

"Flea" goes back to back for All Australian in the 30s following a near faultless display with the bat all week. Watty worked hard on his game as well as coaching the side, and his ability to focus on both roles and succeed at both is testament to not only his physical but also his mental ability. Well done to both.

Womens Over 30s

Andrea McCauley

Another great tournament by "Macs", consistently batted well and always ignites the team with a great bit of fielding.

Mens 35s

Mark Hogan

Hogey accepted the shirt in his ever so humble style "that's ass paper", by pointing out other team mates who should have received the shirt ahead of him. This exemplifies his team attitude, and along with noone being able to play his leggies all week and his consistent opening batting form made him a firm favourite for the shirt.

Over 40 Men

Simon "Spook" Morris

After missing out on 35 selection and only joining the 40s squad late, Spook stepped up to the plate and dominated the competition. His Australian selection also complimented by winning Player of the Series, a fantastic effort by the Ponytail express. Also a good message to the kids to stay positive and persist.

Lords Taverners

Vincent Smith
Lindsay Drowley

As always these guys take the most pride in their awards, and demonstrate how we all should feel about recognition. Vincent high fived everyone in the room, and the veteran Lindsay took it all in his stride, but no doubt going internally berserk.
